Julianne Parkinson is the founding CEO of the Global Centre for Modern Ageing (GCMA).
As CEO, Julianne is leading collaboration with partners across the globe and championing ground-breaking initiatives to transform the ways in which people live better throughout the second half of life. Working with governments, businesses, research intuitions, product developers, technology platform providers and citizens, the GCMA’s positive impact is being experienced in countries including Hong Kong, Israel, Singapore, Japan and Australia. New Zealand, Europe and the USA are on the horizon in 2023.
The GCMA is an active contributor to the latest global research focus on ageing in place. Utilising internationally accredited living laboratory methodologies and boasting a state-of-the-art simulated studio – the GCMA places people at the centre of codesign of new and improved products and services that promote and deliver on modern ageing.
It’s predicted there will be at least 1.5 billion people aged over 65 years by 2050. Globally people over 55 years are the largest growing consumer cohort on the planet representing 15 trillion USD. The global ageing phenomenon is a recognised megatrend and a compelling market opportunity of economic and social significance.
Julianne has overseen the publishing of significant research papers sharing insights into the social and economic opportunities afforded by the growing community of older people. The demand and desire to age well in place and the accelerated take-up of tech-enabled solutions such as telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic is just one example.
In 2023, Julianne was named among APAC’s leading changemakers in ageing, receiving the prestigious Ageing Asia Global Ageing Influencer Award 2023.
Julianne is a graduate of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Program 2022 and Stanford Business School Innovative Technology Leader Program 2022.Julianne is an experienced Board Director and is both a graduate and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is currently an Adjunct Industry Fellow with the University of South Australia (UniSA) and an Advisory Board Member on the UniSA Post Graduate Advisory Board and Business School Advisory Board.
Prior to joining the GCMA, Julianne held Executive Director roles spearheading economic and social development initiatives in the South Australian government and global consultancy firms EY and KPMG.
