The Global Centre for Modern Ageing® was engaged by HomeStart Finance (HSF) to explore opportunities for improvement and innovation in the home equity release market, including reverse mortgages, producing a study entitled 'Enabling Housing Transitions for More People in More Ways as We Age'.

The Global Centre for Modern Ageing® conducted independent research on residents’ mobility behaviour, and gathered user feedback to investigate the market viability of autonomous vehicles in the retirement village context for Aurrigo - a leading manufacturer of autonomous vehicles. The trial was launched at the Lendlease owned Elliot Gardens retirement village at Port Elliot, in collaboration with Regional Development Australia.

The Global Centre for Modern Ageing® led a project to better understand the potential for Prohab’s exercise and strength-testing device to appeal to older people. In our LifeLab®, GCMA researchers thoughtfully engaged older co-designers to explore their experiences of the device as customers.

The Global Centre for Modern Ageing® partnered with Potatoes SA, the University of Adelaide, and several food companies to develop new nutrient-enriched, lifestyle-driven potato puree-based foods to support healthy and active ageing.

New Australian research, conducted by the Global Centre for Modern Ageing® (GCMA) has revealed that while older Australians’ desire to remain living at home tends to increase with age, the majority of older Australians have not done enough to modify their properties in line with their changing needs.

The Global Centre for Modern Ageing® was delighted to host six interactive sessions at Tonsley Innovation District for ZestFest 2019. Supported by GCMA’s skilled researchers, 30 older South Australians worked together to explore experiences at home, and reimagine the future of ageing at home. We will share their insights with industry, to inspire better products and solutions that truly meet people’s needs as they age.

The Global Centre for Modern Ageing® partnered with The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI), engaged by SA Health, to work alongside the Strathalbyn community and clinicians on redesigning the region’s aged care services, to ensure they met the needs of the community.

The GCMA was delighted to partner with Unchartered Leadership on the Second Life Project. This Project explored whether there is a way to tap into our elders’ wisdom to address the increasingly complex societal challenges of today's world.

New smart technologies for living, care and health services are entering our homes… But do they truly meet the needs of older people? The Global Centre for Modern Ageing® brought together researchers, citizen co-designers, entrepreneurs and established companies to explore how future homes need to look and function to support the needs of older people.
